If it was not for that I would not be fucking BAWWWWing and FFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKing at the same time.
No. People like to pretend to care about things because it makes them feel better about themselves. Give it a day; they'll all go back to being their normal faggot selves.

Since lately there has been COUNTLESS posts about different themes and desktop toys, i will write a small guide that may be added to / spell chacked later. (is also too long for one post, so pt.2 will be up soon)
section I: Themes
Not all custom themes are programs. Yes, windows blinds and styleXP do work just fine, but take up waaay too much memory for me, so i choose to go the path of a custom 'uxtheme.dll" This site: http://customize.org/xpthemes has all kinds of themes for download that can be used for this process, and if im not mistaken, others as well. For usage and installation of this type of customization, see: http://customize.org/xpthemes/help/How_To_Use_Xp_Themes
Section II: Docks
One good (and there only 2, so this is big) thing about Macs is the dock, which looks nice and keeps all your programs and links right there without haveing to go to the start menu. There are two ways to emulate this well on a windows machine. One is ObjectDock and one is Rocketdock. Most people preffer objectdock, but I use rocketdock because i feel it looks nicer, and my computer can handle it (rocketdock can be memory intensive) To customize these, different themes can be downloaded, however as far as the icons go, any icon file, or even a jpg or whattnot can be used as an icon.
(note: objectdock is free, but plus is not, but im sure a crack is out there somewhere)

Section III: Rainmeter
WooHoo! This is what most people ask about when they see different peoples "widgets" hanging out on their desktop. Usually, it is a program called rainmeter, which while telling you useful facts about your computer, such as cpu, download rates, memory, time, storage space, etc. also looks freaking cool. The program (and rainlendar, for a calandar program): http://www.ipi.fi/~rainy/legacy.html
Section IV: Winamp
Some people have custom winamp themes (aside from the controlers in rainmeter) (also seen used is Foobar2k, which i dont support, but may be a good choice also) to enhance their desktop. Winamp is a free media player, which i find to be very nice. I personally love the media library feature which has a search feature that makes it very easy to make new playlists and to find that certain song im looking for. Link (also has skins) (plus version or whatever not needed at all, but again, cracks are out there): http://www.winamp.com/
Section VI: Links (that have may have not already been mentiond)
http://www.customize.org/ - Tons of skins and customizations for XP
http://www.deviantart.com/ - Has icons and skins and a bunch of other shit if you know where to find it.
Thanks to a kind soul in another thread, the link to quickchanger (not mentiond in guide) is: http://www.skinnables.org/archive.php?¤t_dir=archive/quickchanger
http://sk2b.hp.infoseek.co.jp/cgi-bin/gallerypro/gallery.cgi - anime related skins for rainmeter and rainlender

sticky this so there'll be no more fucking desktop threads
My 4chan folder is starting to get a bit messy (pic related), so I want to clean it up a bit. I assume that most of you have been collecting wallpapers for years, so I'm sure you know what structure works best.
In short, how does /w/ organize their wallpapers?
"Organizing wallpapers". 265 posts and 46 image replies omitted. Archived from /w/.
I started naming and grouping my walls so that each folder would have the most walls in them. Example Starwars i went through all my walls any looked for anything that had to do with starwars. As i was doing this I found around 60 duplicates. most were the same wall just different sizes. now i know if they are any new black lagoon or chicks with headphones walls i don't have. I even combined some different groups to make 1 folder like I have a HaloHalflife, slayersSamuri7 folders i even have a GodziGokuGuyver or Godzilla,Gokuson,Guyver folder

Danbooru? I believe you just won the "best organizing system" contest. My stuff looks somewhat like OP's chaos, some structure will be a nice change. There's only one problem - I can't figure out where the download button is.
