I worked in the police force for a number of years, then when I retired I decided to become a private detective using the skills I learnt. This seems to be the common way to get into this business. I am self employed, I set up the business when I retired from the police force and used some of the contacts I met.

I changed my clothes, my attitude and started learning random things like lockpicking. I kinda an interesting in stalking people and monitoring people for fun. Eventually I was hired by a friend to follow his girlfriend and sure enough, she was cheating.
Once I realized I COULD actually do it, I applied to a PI company, but still freelance if work is slow.

how does one become a p.i.? do you need to go to school for anything? and how much do you charge?

You can do it as a hobby, while not actually legal (you need a license). The easiest way to get a license is to actually get a Security Guards license, most of the time it acts a both. The actual course is mainly legal shit, very boring. Security license cost about $100 to take the test where I am.

>>8963538
Pay? Hours? Fun? Danger?

I'm paid anywhere between $200-$1000 with my company. With my own contracts I dont charge much, usually around $300. I like doing it, its actually pretty fun. The hours are whatever it takes to, could take weeks (which usually piss people off) or it could take a day, depends. It can be very dangerous, I trained in Combat Judo and carry a Knife.

Have you ever thought about becoming a Bounty Hunter?

If I became a bounty hunter, would you be willing to be the information gatherer while I go and do the actual arrest? We'll split the money evenly.

There will be a lot of moving around involved and what not, but it'd be fun/dangerous (often synonymous terms in my book).

I'm asking because I want to do something after my stint in the Army is done.

Typical follow cheater around deal. Wore the same too many times and I guess he finally noticed me, caught me by surprise with one of those fucking club things you put on your steering wheel. Broke my wrist, 2 fingers and other minor injuries. I retard strengthed about two punches but it didn't do shit. Lucky for my ass a patrol car was in the area and someone flagged them down.

>>8963862
What are common ways you conduct surveillance?

The most common method I use to follow on food, 10 steps back 4 to the left most of the time. Wear headphones that aren't plugged in, sunglasses that I remove later. Other times I'll follow via car. the company has several cars you can use other than your own.
Moderately tinted windows for taking photos, iPhone for more discreet photos.

Yeah, sometimes random books, others textbooks. Sometimes I have an game boy. Random shit. The trick is to only use it shortly and to not get to into it. No, but I am considering buying mainly for the sake of protecting my girlfriend. You make enemies. Taser I couldn't get if tried other than a little anti-rape taser women carry. Pepper Spray is illegal where I am, but apparently Bear spary isn't, which I carry in my car.

-99% of people are pussies and pushovers. If you talk firm to them and you'll get what you want. Some people might give you a tough act, but it will crack.
-CONFIDENCE. Easier said than done. You need it and thats the bottom line. I practiced my calling random people and tried to start a conversation. Stop at random peoples house and ask for directions. Just talking to people helps.
-Learn to pick a lock, actually comes in handy for small things.
-Learn to defend yourself. I highly recommend Combat Judo, you can fuck people up very badly, very quickly and be gone before people know whats going on.
-If you aren't who you want to be, then change. Again, easier said than done, but I did it. I wanted to be like the old PI movies, so I set out to be that. Lie. Lie enough and eventually you become who you say you are.
-Learn any random skill you can.
-Be prepared to have boring jobs and be prepared to have very fucked up cases.
-Watch Gore. Odd I know, but slowly it will desensitize you.
-People very very very rarely notice you following them. Follow random people in public for practice
-Cops will have your back on most shit.
-Cops do favors for you, you do favors for cops.

I'll post more in a minute.

I'm Canadian. I took Combat Jubo because I'm not much of a puncher. I have the long arms, but its just not my thing. I prefer CJ because through grappling you can injure people very easily. If you've ever been in a fight you'll know that its not really a boxing match. You both get a couple of swings in then your faces are 2 inches apart and your randomly swinging and grabbing whatever your can. I prefer CJ because if I can stave off those first few shots it game over for the other job.
IF you're got th arm behind the punch, then go into Boxing, with proper training you'll be able in end the fight quicker and me more conditioned to a fight. Most other martial arts are fucking stupid and completely useless.

Company was contracted by family members of the kids, mothers side.
Took 2 1/2 weeks to find, put a lot of strain on my relationship with my girlfriend. Missed a lot of my University classes.
Talked to Child Services (Family was Native, therefore poverty), got the details on the dad.
When to his workplace, some machine shop, asked around, got access to his locker.
When through his shit, nothing to important other than some things that pointed to him having another girlfriend.
Asked around about her. Not many people know about her, only knew she would meet him and go out for lunch on his breaks Finally got a name for the girlfriend from a Subway a fews blocks away in the form of a Credit Card recite from the Manager.
Got the address of the girlfriend from the Police.
Waited outside for several hours, the father finally came home (stopped at beer store), quickly got out of my car and jumped the him. Quick kick to the back of the leg followed by hitting his head against the ground. I have Special Constable statues, which means I can carry handcuff, so I cuffed him and ziptied his legs.
Called 911 and had them dispatched.
Rang the doorbell, waited for girlfriend to open and pulled her to the ground and ziptied her.
When inside to find they had been shooting up the kids for entertainment and that they had OD'd, probably the day before.
Cops show up, shit storm ensues.
Thats the quick version.

She supports every decision I make.
We met in grade 3 and were best friends.
She is very petite (5 foot 1 inch, 90 pounds). Red hair.
She's the kind of chick that no matter how much shit goes down, she still somehow manages to keep some sense of innocences.
Also a University student (Physics).

She copes by justifying that what I do is what makes me happy, and thats the most she ask for, to make me happy.
Her Mom died when she was 14 (tumor), and her sister was killed in a car crash at 16, father ran away with new girlfriend later that year and she ended up moving with my family, so she knows how to cope and she know how to move on.

This is because we are observing you when your not loking at us, so when you do spot us, were fiddling with our iPod or talking on the phone.

Other than that, you don't.

just sent away an enquiry

good morning.

i have been looking into and have been on a few websites with the view to becoming a private investigator.

i am currently a student at xxx University and i am looking for a job to get myself through university.

i would be interested in hearing more about your company and if possible working for you.

i have looked into the police career and if i do go down this route, CID is definitely the area that interests me the most. similarly i have been interested in a military career - the art of the sniper is something that truly excites me, i love the ideology of espionage.

rather than undertake freelance work i would rather work for an established company and learn from the current crop.

thanks if you took the time to read this.
i anticipate your response.

.

Right, because that makes sense. I actually do something and have a house with my girlfriend, and I'm a faggot.
What excatly makes you qualified to top that?

Why don't I become a cop? Simple, I don't want to. I plan on apply for Med School next year when my degree is
done.

Private cases usually invovle a suspicious husband or wife, sometimes people want me to
get dirt on an employee or a boss, I had o follow a women teenage kid around to find
out if he was using drugs.

And if you were wondering, last night wasn't very eventful. Waited for a call to go meet a guy at a McDonalds, just for him to tell me a bunch of shit I already know.
I actually have 2 current cases, one is a cheating spouse, who I'm just compiling the evidence now to present the case and the other is involving a womend run away teenage daughter. A little more sad and difficult.

I'm going to be out all day, so don't count on a response.
