The differences between each variant?

The main difference between the two SCAR variants is the caliber:
- Mk.16 SCAR-L (Light): 5.56
- Mk.17 SCAR-H (Heavy): 7.62

There are other specific differences (like certain Mk.17's being able to accept 7.62x39mm ammunition for battlefield pickup) or the ability to carry a Mk.13 Mod 0 EGLM (Enhanced Grenade Launcher Module) depending on the hand guard length (note that there are specific mounts/grenade launcher variants for both SCAR-L / SCAR-H variants).

Plus the sub variants (Long Barrel / Standard / CQC) are it's various configurations (Operators can carry various barrels to adapt the rifles on the battlefield, to better suit the situation at hand).

My dislike of SCARs and the reason for my random "omgsuck" rant is due to pretty much every airshitfag/vidyafag in the vicinity of a SCAR picture of the Internet instantly having a massive group orgasm and throwing candies and praise at the damn thing like it's some sort of demigod.

Though I don't dislike the SCAR, it's not one of my favorites.
If, in the case they issued me such a rifle, I would like to carry the CQC and long barrels (and having one equipped depending on the deployment area).

the decreased energy from a shorter is actually more substantial in 5.56 than 7.62 NATO

i don't know if anyone noticed this, but it took a level IIIa vest to stop the three fastest 9mm rounds, whereas the fastest10mm round got stopped with a level II vest, some of the slower flying 10mm rounds even got stopped by a level IIa vest, so much for 10mm having amazing penetration

The 10mm has a larger diameter. It provides excellent penetration with the ability to expand to much larger diameter. Of course the smaller round that's been overpressured to higher velocity has better penetration.

Check the fucking velocity on those 10mm. They're underloaded, and the fastest one is a fucking jacketed hollowpoint.
